Community group questions North Allegheny enrollment projections
“If an elementary school building is closed, current enrollment would account for 90 percent of the total available seats in the remaining buildings,” said Tara Fisher, 36, of McCandless, a member of Save NA Schools. “It limits the district’s ability to keep class sizes below district guidelines.”
The report concludes that the district has a history of underestimating enrollment and that an enrollment increase could end up costing the district more money in the long run if a school is closed. The report also concludes that the district cannot guarantee the same level of education if a school is closed.

Today’s Post Gazette has two articles in the Extra section about proposed projects none of which has anything to do with teaching our children, especially the 2.6 million for the stadium, Baierl center and the bus garage. Also Mr. Gualtieri mentions renting out Peebles – does he have someone in mind already???
Dr. Gualtieri has mentioned on multiple occasions that the administration has an entity in mind to rent Peebles Elementary school. He has not divulged any specific information at this point in time except to say that he is confident that the district can rent the building for upwards of $1M/ per year. From a KDKA news report: “Newly-hired superintendent at North Allegheny, Dr. Raymond Gualtieri, is making $190,000. That is $5,000 more than his predecessor.” Maybe Mr. Gualtieri should take a pay cut to help make up the deficit instead of closing schools.
